An official announcement today confirmed that author Uru Okabe's Good Night World manga is in the advanced stages of production. With trailer and image revealed, the premiere will take place on October 12, 2023, being an adaptation of the NAZ studio with funding from Netflix. Already finished, the somewhat underground manga was on the market between 2015 and 2017 yielding 52 chapters compiled into 5 volumes. The story follows members of a dysfunctional family in real life but who live in complete harmony in the virtual world without knowing their true identities. Ichi is a reclusive and bitter young man who usually spends up to 30 hours trapped in a virtual reality game called Planet. Together with fellow players Shiro, Mei and AAAAA they are considered the 4 most powerful players holding 5% of all wealth. 

 

In this virtual world, the coexistence between them is so harmonious that they look more like a family being truly concerned about each other. However, in real life Ichi is Taichirou, Mei is his mother Miyabe, AAAAA is his younger brother Azuma and Shiro is his father Kojirou. They form a dysfunctional family with grudges against each other, making even a simple dialogue at home difficult. Ichi's father was once an authoritarian man, and although he is regretful, he left scars on the family. His mother usually spends 10 days away because she can't stand living with him. Azuma, on the other hand, seems cold and distant in Ichi's eyes and they barely speak to each other. These characters collect evidence that can reveal their true identities. How will they react? The anime will be directed by Katsuya Kikuchi (directed "Sengoku Night Blood"), script by Michiko Yokote (she wrote for "Tondemo Skill by Isekai Hourou Meshi"), and character design by Suzuna Okuyama. In the dub Ichi will be voiced by Daisuke Hirose, Mei will be played by Aya Endou (the Tsurugi no Otome from "Goblin Slayer"), AAAAA will be voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki (the Yuno from "Black Clover"), and Shiro will be voiced by veteran Akio Ootsuka (the Torkell from "Vinland Saga").
