Original anime " Shuumatsu Train Doko e Iku? " is announced in honour of the 150th anniversary of the Japanese railway system.

Kadokawa confirmed today the production of the original anime Shuumatsu Train Doko e Iku? (Where the Last Train Goes), directed by Tsutomu Mizushima. The director is remembered for helming previous series such as "Girls & Panzer", "Shirobako" and "Kouya no Kotobuki Hikoutai". The announcement brought with it a first image highlighting a small dog, 4 girls and a mysterious vision floating in the sky. Without mentioning a premiere date, the anime commemorates "Railroad Day" (October 14) and the 150 years since the steam train made its first journey on Japanese territory.

The invention of the locomotive is known to have occurred in 1804 AD in England, credited to engineer Richard Trevithick. By 1825 AD they were already a reality transporting citizens across the country.

In Japan this technology would be contemplated for the first time in 1853 AD being only a steam car prototype. Already in 1865 AD the first train was put into operation in a course of only 600 meters, taking passengers from the region of Nagasaki.

Since then the country has embraced this means of transport, ideal for long distances, and became a world reference when in 1964 AD the engineer Hideo Shima made possible the concept of the bullet train, capable of travelling at speeds between 200 km/h and 500 km/h.
