episodes of Kusuriya no Hitorigoto will be aired

Kusuriya no Hitorigoto (Diary of a Pharmacist), which has been eagerly anticipated since its introduction in February of this year, received a new update today confirming its October 21, 2023, launch date. The plot will be set in an imperial court in ancient China where the young Maomao, aged 17, was kidnapped and placed as a low-level slave in the royal palace. She, however, maintains a pragmatic and curious spirit, planning to work until her days of servitude are over. At one point, the emperor's young children contract a serious illness and the girl secretly uses her experience with medicinal plants to cure them. Though she desires anonymity, Maomao catches the attention of Jinshi, an influential palace eunuch who recognizes her talent. She is now part of the imperial court where she will gradually build her name using her pharmaceutical knowledge and personality accustomed to challenges.
A new poster for the anime was also revealed, guaranteeing the first three episodes would be screened at the premiere. The popular light novel by Natsu Hyuga, which OLM is adapting, has sold over 21 million copies in 13 volumes (Note: This number also takes into account the two manga versions). The anime will be directed and written by Norihiro Naganuma (he worked on "Mahoutsukai no Yome"), character design by Yukiko Nakatani (she held the same position on "Tropical-Rouge! Precure"), and soundtrack by Satoru Kosaki, Kevin Penkin and Alisa Okehazama. In the dub, Maomao will be voiced by Aoi Yuuki (the Mami from "Kanojo, Okarishimasu") while Jinshi will be voiced by Takeo Ootsuka (the Aquamarine from "Oshi no Ko").
