Skip And Loafer is a beautiful series that escapes many preconceived ideas that are often repeated a thousand times in romantic comedy slice of life. Based on a manga from August 2018 and which is currently still being published, this series created by PA Works is one of the proposals for the April season that is most worth seeing in this 2023. The story introduces us to Mitsumi, a somewhat clumsy enthusiastic young country girl who moves to the big city of Tokyo with the idea of ​​becoming Prime Minister in the future. All because she is very concerned about the problem of the lack of Japanese population. Where more and more towns are disappearing because young people prefer to move to the big cities and births are increasingly rare. Even so, on his first day of school, almost by accident, he meets an attractive young man who almost immediately becomes his friend named Shima Sosuke. This boy at first glance is completely different from Mitsumi as he seems very carefree and uninterested in standing out at anything in particular. The anime has only 12 chapters, it only introduces us to a few but quite interesting characters. As we said at the beginning, the idea of ​​being an ordinary romantic comedy escapes it. His main objective being to tell us how young Japanese see the idea of ​​fulfilling their dreams in the midst of a society that demands more and more results in less time. In fact, at the beginning of the story, Mitsumi is very afraid of fitting in because she considers herself a very calm, responsible and serious person, while her classmates seem only interested in parties and having fun.

 Among the first lessons that the series gives us is the idea that it is not necessary to change who we are to fit in, it will always be better to wait for the right group of friends to accept us as we are. Another point in favor of this anime is that it escapes most of the clichés that exist in the comedy genre. 

That is to say that we are not going to find the typical scenes of a trip to the beach to the hot springs or situations of forced humor like a series similar to Rent a Girlfriend. It is very easy to feel identified with Mitsumi or Shima because the problems they are going through are very well explained and well founded. Many times the anime puts into the words of its protagonists universal problems of adolescence such as trying to please others at the cost of our own happiness or expressing our fears in public. Very subtly, the series also deals with the issue of prejudice, in the sense of a preconceived idea that we have about other people because of their appearance, their way of acting or even their ideas and preferences. It really feels that there is still a lot of material and stories to be told in this series, so many fans are expecting the announcement of a second season in the short term.
